Novelis is the world’s largest producer of rolled aluminium and the global leader in drink can recycling. Established as a Canadian corporation in 2005 as a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited, we at Novelis produce high-quality aluminium sheet and foil products for customers in a wide range of markets including automotive, transportation, packaging, construction and printing.
We are the world leader in aluminium rolling, producing an estimated 19 percent of the world's flat-rolled aluminium products. We are also the world leader in the recycling of used aluminium beverage cans.
We have operations in 11 countries and 11,000 employees.
Hindalco is structured into two strategic businesses - aluminium and copper - and is an industry leader in both. Established in 1958, Hindalco has grown to become the country's largest integrated aluminium producer and ranks among the top quartile of low-cost producers in the world. Its copper smelter is the world's largest custom smelter at a single location.
With the addition of Novelis in 2007, Hindalco became the world's largest aluminium rolling company and one of the biggest producers of primary aluminium in Asia.

Novelis and Recycling
We have the capacity to recycle every aluminium can sold in the UK for the foreseeable future.
As the world's largest aluminium can recycler, we recycle more than 40 billion used beverage cans every year – enough to circle the earth more than 100 times. Many of our plants have the facilities to recycle post-consumer aluminium as well as scrap aluminium generated during the manufacturing process. This recycled metal is then primarily utilised by our own rolling facilities to produce can sheet.
What’s more, we are a world a leader in establishing industry programmes to promote aluminium collection and recycling in many of the countries where we operate.
We operate six dedicated used beverage aluminium can recycling plants on four continents:
- Europe, UK: Latchford Locks, Warrington
- South America, Brazil: Pindamonhangaba, Sao Paulo
- Asia, South Korea: Ulsan
- North America, USA: Berea, Kentucky; Greensboro, Georgia; Oswego, New York
