recycling at home

Recycling at home is easy!

Most local authorities provide a regular door-to-door recycling service so it’s easy to recycle at home. But remember to check exactly what can and can’t be put in your recycling box, bag or bin as contamination can disrupt the recycling process.

If your recycling service currently doesn’t include drink cans you will find can banks at local supermarkets or civic amenity sites. For details of your nearest council recycling sites click here.

You can also recycle aluminium drink cans for cash – for more information click here.

Aluminium cans collected by your local authority are either sorted at the kerbside or in a 'materials recycling facility' before being baled and delivered to the Novelis can recycling plant in Cheshire. To find out more about the process click here

Think cans..think recycling

Remember it's not just cans that can be recycled – 60% of the contents of your bin can be too. With a bit of organisation you can get your household recycling effectively. For more information and advice visit www.recyclenow.com

HANDY TIP!

To save space squash cans before saving them. You can purchase a can crusher designed especially to do the job for you. For information on recycling supplies click here.
