Think Cans in the Classroom provides a range of activities designed to bring recycling and aluminium into the curriculum. 

How heavy is it?

Overview: Children look at four containers that are each used to carry liquids. The children discuss their properties and in particular, compare their weights.

Overview: Children test a range of objects to see if they are attracted to a magnet.

Overview: Children look at the use of containers and packaging (plastic drinks container, aluminium can and paper/cardboard container).

Where do things come from?

Overview: This activity encourages children to think about the things they use every day and where they come from. Children discuss what resources are used to make objects and how these resources can be recycled.

Sorting and Separating Materials Investigation

Overview: An extended investigation where children separate plastic, metal and cardboard using their different physical properties (floating, magnetism and strength).

L00P's Recycling Wordsearch

Overview: A printable word search that allows children to look for wards connected with the recycling of aluminium. Can be used as a short classroom activity or as homework.
